Después del terremoto de la semana pasada, que afectó la zona alta de Sarapiquí y cantones aledaños de la provincia de Alajuela, nuestra compañía se une a todo el país para ayudar a todas las personas afectadas, familias y empresas

Dear friends and colleagues,

After last weeks earthquake, which struck the upper Sarapiquí and neighboring counties of the province of Alajuela, our company joins the entire country to help the people, affected families, and businesses recover. We extend a further request for help from you and your companies to the affected families so they may have a chance to move forward in this difficult situation.

We also would like to announce that our company facilities have suffered no damage to infrastructure. Similarly our staff has not suffered any damages to their homes and all are doing well.

Our company is working almost completely normally, except for rafting. The environmental damage to the Sarapiqui River is very serious, totally beyond our comprehension. Because of the instability of the land surrounding the upper river, a lack of formal communication from government institutions, and because safety is always our number one priority, all the river rafting trips that we have previously provided on the Sarapiquí River have been relocated.

Therefore, starting today and until further notice our rafting operations have been moved to the Puerto Viejo River, a river that did not suffer the effects of the disaster, as it rises into the Braulio Carrillo National Park, an area that did not suffer the damaging effects of the earthquake.

Aventuras del Sarapiquí has worked on this river for many years, but until now we have concentrated on the lower section of floating (class I). While maintaining our standards of safety, service and quality, our rafting operations have officially moved to this river. Details of the changes and logistics for our new operations will be passed on to you as soon as possible.

We are thankful for the solidarity and cooperation that have with our affected neighbors and we thank you all very much for your continued support. As always we are more than happy and always available to answer any questions or concerns that you may have.
