Costa Rica is world renowned for the quality of its white water. Abundant rain, warm water, and a variety of rivers and eco-systems make this small democratic nation a paddlers paradise. Aventuras del Sarapiqui specialize on the northern Caribbean lowland rivers of Costa Rica. Here the rainy season lasts from May through December keeping water levels ideal for boating even in the "dry" season. We are happy to offer a 12 month paddling season. The rivers we run are: Sarapiquí Pacuare Toro Peñas Blancas Puerto Viejo Sucio |

| Rio Sarapiquí Flowing freely from two Costa Rican volcanic national parks and running alongside primary rainforest, the Sarapiquí is one of the most pristine and cleanest rivers in Costa Rica. An excellent choice for beginners to experts, this river offers 3 different sections from easy class I-II, intermediate class III, and a technical, steep class IV-V. Rio Pacuare Costa Ricas most beautiful river has 18 miles of primary tropical rainforest, many awesome waterfalls, and creek-side hikes. One, two, or three day trips are available. Experience suggested, but not required. Intermediate difficulty. Rio Toro Intermediate, advanced and expert boaters will enjoy this dam-release river year round. There are three different segments to choose from, including the class V "powerhouse" section, the most extreme of all the rivers we run. Hot springs and waterfalls are abundant on this river. Rio Peñas Blancas On the slopes of beautiful and active Arenal volcano, we run this pristine river on two sections, classes III and IV. The upper section is only available in the rainy season and is more scenic, remote and challenging. The lower section offers easy class III and has a longer season, although water levels will determine accessibility. Rio Puerto Viejo Calm sections of the Puerto Viejo are a good choice for canoeists and bird watchers. This river runs along the world famous OTS (Organization for Tropical Studies) preserve where wildlife viewing is commonplace, yet spectacular. Rio Sucio This steep and technical river is recommended for advanced and expert boaters. Due to the high concentration of volcanic sediments in the water, it is often difficult to accurately read the water while boating. Although the scenery of the Braulio Carrillo National Park is not to be missed on your trip to Costa Rica. |
